Revising automated email notifications

We are revising email notifications on our instance/fork. I am sharing lessons learned and next steps.

Why has it taken 7+ years?

Automated email notifications are hardcoded. Over the years we’ve made minor tweaks like adding or removing automation, clarifying verbiage, and making security improvements like removing PII and directing users to Hypha via urls rather than embedding emails with information about the application. This is the first time we’ve had a major overhaul of email content.

What’s next?

  • [ ] Revising slack notifications
  • [ ] Potentially carrying out UX and discovery of communication and notifications to improve usability for applicants and staff
